Little More About Me
Born and bred in Bangalore, India - Perhaps, my love for tech comes from the fact that the city has spawned some of the most innovative companies from this side of the world.
After high-school in India, I moved to the mid-west and was engineered at Purdue University (Class of 15). Was a fun-time, where I made a ton of memories and lived through some great experiences. One of them, was a study abroad program in 2014 at Tsinghua University -Beijing, where we visited the Alibaba and BYD offices, an experience that changed my world-perception, one that taught me China has well and truly arrived.
Post college in the mid-west, my interest in tech drove me to Silicon Valley, where I spent a summer meeting and learning from folks investing and building "bits" businesses. A fast-growing Indian startup ecosystem in 2015 and a few serendipitous interactions later, I ended up back in the motherland, to be a part of the founding team at Hummingbill, a fin-tech startup that automated receivables management. Got some real hands on experience building a startup - made a lot of mistakes and learned quite a bit two big ones being the power of distribution in software businesses & the benefits of being well capitalized. We ended up being acquired by KredX, an invoice discounting company, now backed by Sequoia and Tiger Global.
Post this, I got a lucky break into Venture Capital, through the Kalaari Fellowship, a program that develops future leaders in the Indian venture capital and entrepreneurial ecosystem. I spent close to half a decade here, learning from founders and being inspired by their ability to create, innovate and persist for years to bring their ideas to life. It was a surreal experience, where my learning encompassed across a variety of sectors in Consumer Tech - D2C Brands, Alternate Commerce, Education & Mobility. In my current role at the firm, I'm chief of staff to Vani-Kola.
During the pandemic, I took baby steps on climate at Terra.do. Was a surreal experience that accelerated my climate journey significantly, one I would highly recommend!
Currently exploring ways I can contribute to decarbonise the planet. For now, I'm focussed on incubating Climes.io and investing in early stage climate-tech & crypto founders. I'm a volunteer at ACT Environment, that invests to catalyze climate impact at scale.
Outside of Work, I love swimming, playing cricket and poker, and enjoy different genres of music. I read a lot of non-fiction, mostly around geopolitics and anecdotes on how businesses have been built.
